What is Conductive Education

Conductive Education (C.E.) is an intensive program developed for people with neuromuscular disorders, such as Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson Disease, MS etc.

During a C.E. program while participating in a group activities children are motivated, challenged and guided through functional goals. These goals are broken into a series of tasks (bending -stretching limbs, opening and closing hands, sitting, rolling, standing etc) that are key to basic functional movements. Children learn to be more independent and by repeated experience of success they build and improve their self-esteem.

The main goal of C.E. is the comprehensive development of the personality based on active learning. C.E. focuses on the person as a whole, not on his/her individual symptoms.

C.E. offers an intensive rehabilitation program, which covers various aspects of development, for instance: physical, educational, communication & language skills and social & emotional skills. C.E. aims to guide each child to gain more control over their bodies and to reach their maximum potential (orthofunction).

C. E. is a learning system designed to enable children/adults with disabilities to function more independently. It is a melding of education and fine and gross motor exercise techniques based on the idea that motor control can be learned. More about Conductive Education

"Do not ask what I can do to help the child with cerebral palsy,
but rather, what can the child do to help himself"
